From the archive, but an award-winning piece I love — because it gave me a chance to work with one of my comedy heroes (SCTV’s Joe Flaherty) and it was a hell of a lot of fun to do.

With ROGERS launching one of Canada’s first ever video-on-demand “streaming” services at the time, we resurrected SCTV’s iconic head of broadcasting, the cantankerous Guy Caballero. His role? To dig in his heels about this newfangled technology usurping his business model, before ultimately happily embracing it.

The 7.5 minute long piece was originally scheduled to run for a month, but did so well it ended up running 24/7 for six months on a dedicated ROGERS channel, driving massive signups and winning CMA Silver.
